Tuesday Tour: Mary Dyer vs. the Shakers: A Four Decade Legal Odyssey

Join the Museum for a talk on the long struggle between Mary Dyer and the Shakers. In 1813, Mary and Joseph Dyer and their five children joined the North Family at the Enfield Shaker Village. Two years later Mary Dyer left the Enfield Shaker Community. Frustrated by the law which placed guardianship of her children with her husband and angry with the Shakers, Mary began a legal and political campaign that would last from 1815 to her death in 1867.

Cost: Included with Museum Admission
