This talk will focus on the lives and beliefs of early Shaker leaders such as Ann Lee, James Whittaker, Joseph Meacham, and Lucy Wright. Additionally, we will discuss how the Shaker Order transformed from a small group of English immigrants in the 1770s to a well-established religious community with villages in eight states by the 1820s.
