When is Enfield Shaker Museum open?

The Museum is open from May through mid-December. Some of our buildings and exhibitions are open year-round by advance reservation. Each season of the year has its own reasons to visit. Check our Calendar of Events for special events and activities.

How long should I plan to stay?

We have nine original buildings, gardens, hiking trails, cemeteries, and the Feast Ground, as well as outdoor picnic tables and a gift shop. Most people spend an hour and a half to two hours visiting the site.

May I take photographs or videos?

Absolutely! We especially love it when you post your images online after you visit. If you wish to take photos for advertising, publication, or commercial uses, please let us know before you visit.

Is Enfield Shaker Museum accessible to all?

Over half of our buildings, the gardens, and cemetery are accessible by wheelchair. The Museum’s buildings and exhibitions, spread over several acres, are connected by dirt roads and stone pathways. It is also possible to drive between many of our buildings. Our Feast Ground is a half-mile uphill hike.

Can I stay overnight?

Yes, we have 20 guest rooms available in the Great Stone Dwelling. At this time all of our guest rooms are accessible only by stairs.

Where can I park?

We have unlimited free parking within close proximity to our buildings.

What should I wear?

In order to visit all of our buildings and exhibitions, it is necessary to walk outside from site to site. You should wear comfortable shoes and weather- appropriate clothing. In case of rain, we have a limited number of umbrellas to loan.

Is food available?

We have an outdoor picnic area and a selection of snacks and beverages in our gift shop. For scheduled groups, pre-ordered box lunches are available. Directions to nearby restaurants are available.

Where can I shop?

The Museum Gift Shop is open every day from May through December, offering a variety of handmade Shaker reproduction oval boxes and brooms, books, herbal products, toys, and local crafts.

Can I get married at the Museum?

Yes! Rustic yet elegant, picturesque and uniquely diverse, the Enfield Shaker Museum provides a beautiful country-chic setting. We have a variety of both ceremony and reception locations and we can meet many styles and budgets. We have an experienced event coordinator who will help you plan your special day! How do I schedule a field trip?
