Sign-up for Backyard Gardening with Henry Homeyer and learn from an expert how to build the best soil for your home garden through composting. \nIf you aren’t already composting\, find out why you should be and how easy it is to get started. If you are already composting\, come learn some new tips and tricks. This workshop is geared for both beginners and experienced composers alike.  Learn what compost is and why why composting is important; about the various organisms that make compost happen; what materials are required for a successful compost; the many different methods for constructing a compost pile\, and which is best for your individual situation\, and finally\, how to resolve any issues that might arise. \nJoin UNH Master Gardener Henry Homeyer in the Museum Garden for a hands-on workshop on making compost from your kitchen and yard scraps.  This session will include details on soil testing and building the best organic soil. \n12:00 pm – 12:30 pm Lunch Break – If you are planning to stay for both sessions bring a bag lunch.  The Museum will provide beverages and dessert. \nPart Two: 12:30 – 2:20 pm – Build a 10′ x 12′ Garden in Your Backyard\nLearn how to build a 10′ x 12′ garden in your backyard. Join UNH Master Gardener Henry Homeyer for this hands-on demonstration. Topics for the afternoon session include best practices for getting your vegetable and flower gardens ready for spring and ensuring that both your plants and planting areas are properly prepared for a bountiful harvest! \nClass size limited to 25 per session. Advance registration required. \nMuseum Members – $25/session or $40 for both sessions \nNon-Members – $30/session or $50 for both sessions \nMore about Henry Homeyer:\nHenry Homeyer is a lifelong organic gardener living in Cornish\, NH\, where he has been planting flowers and trees since 1970. He is the author of four gardening books\, and has written a weekly gardening column for newspapers around New England for more than 24 years. He teaches organic gardening workshops throughout New England and is a regular monthly commentator on Vermont Public Radio.
