DESCRIPTION:Mary Keane Chapel Summer Concert Series\nSunday\, September 13\, 2026\n4:00 pm Start\nAll concerts will be held in the Mary Keane Chapel\nEnfield Shaker Museum\n447 NH Route 4A\nEnfield\, NH 03748\nshakermuseum.org \nSuggested donation $15.00. All concert donations support the ongoing restoration of the organ. \nAll concerts will be followed by a reception in the Museum Herb Garden (weather permitting) or in the Great Stone Dwelling. \nOrgan Recital\nNH Chapter of American Guild of Organists\nMembers of the New Hampshire chapter of the American Guild of Organists will be featured in the final concert of the 2026 season. Five organists will perform works that display the organ’s capacity and breadth of color. The program will include Hungarian Rhapsodies\, The Bells of St Anne de Beaupre by Alexander Russell\, Pachelbel Toccata in E minor\, Trumpet Tune by Nicholas Bowden\, compositions by Gerald Near\, Thomas Crawford\, Brenda Portman\, J. S. Bach\, and More. \nOrgan Restoration Update \nBob Waters and Richard Nickerson are continuing to address important restoration needs on the Casavant organ in the Museum’s Mary Keane Chapel. This fall and winter they removed and completely rebuilt the wind chest that receives and regulates the air pressure produced by the organ’s electric blower. This included replacing all the original leather work that controls the release of air to the organ pipes. In addition to maintaining the organ’s tuning\, they have been repairing coupling mechanisms that have failed. Unfortunately the Casavant company no longer makes certain replacement parts\, so some aspects of the restoration work requires creative problem solving. We are fortunate to have two craftsmen\, well versed in the intricacies of Casavant organ construction\, caring for this precious instrument. \nThank you for your support of their ongoing restoration work.

Trumpeter Doug Dean\, a member of the Kearsarge Community Band and the Tall Granite Big Band. Ako Shiffer\, French horn\, performed in small ensemble\, chamber\, and orchestral groups in the Washington D.C area for 20 years Victoria Moore\, trombonist\, has prerformed with the Upper Valley Symphony Orchestra\, Upper Valley Community Band\, and Tall Granite Big Band. Vending begins at 6 pm.\n  \nJoin us outside the historic Stone Machine Shop for a FREE outdoor concert with The Ferns Family Band! \n\nThe Ferns Family Band is a trio fronted by award winning singer Mara Ferren\, who never fails to impress with her seemingly effortless vocal prowess. Mara is supported by her brother Quinlan Ferren the backbone of the band on keys who masterfully juggles all piano\, organ\, bass\, percussion and orchestral sounds. Father Justin Ferren\, a seasoned musician spices up the spaces in between with tasty electric and acoustic guitar as well as percussion and live looping. The Ferns perform a mix of covers and originals spanning pop\, folk\, blues\, soul and country sharing the magic of live music throughout New England and abroad. \n\nBring your chairs and blankets and enjoy this free outdoor concert with The Ferns Family Band at the Enfield Shaker Museum Stone Machine Shop. \nBeer\, wine\, soda\, and snacks will be available to purchase during the concert. The Sounds of Latin America Wind Ensemble Concert program features 50 musicians from across New England\, is free and open to the public\, with 100% of all donations at the door going toward updates to the facility. \nThe all-volunteer Shaker Wind Ensemble is staffed by current and retired NH music educators\, professional musicians\, and community members. The group was formed in 2024 to help raise funds for the Enfield Shaker Museum’s renovation of the Chosen Vale Performance Center. We are excited to return for a second performance this summer.They will be performing Michael Gandolfi’s Vientos y Tangos\, Shelley Hanson’s Islas y Montanas\, and Aaron Copland’s El Salon Mexico. under the direction of Eileen Maderios. \nWe hope you will join us to enjoy this hour of music in the Upper Valley’s newest performance space! \nReservations not required. All concert donations support the ongoing restoration of the organ. \nAll concerts will be followed by a reception in the Museum Herb Garden (weather permitting) or in the Great Stone Dwelling. \nA Capella Chamber Choir\nTessitura\nEnfield Shaker Museum and the Brattleboro Music Center are pleased to present the a capella chamber choir\, Tessitura on Sunday\, July 19.  The concert will feature the music of Monteverdi and Poulenc. Also included in the program will be works by Louis Andriessen\, Fenno Heath\, and Eric Whitacre. \nThe choir includes singers from the Upper Valley and the Brattleboro area and is directed by Mark Nelson. A multifaceted musician with wide-ranging musical interests\, Mark Nelson has over 30 years’ experience conducting instrumental and choral ensembles. \nOrgan Restoration Update\nBob Waters and Richard Nickerson are continuing to address important restoration needs on the Casavant organ in the Museum’s Mary Keane Chapel. This fall and winter they removed and completely rebuilt the wind chest that receives and regulates the air pressure produced by the organ’s electric blower. This included replacing all the original leather work that controls the release of air to the organ pipes. In addition to maintaining the organ’s tuning\, they have been repairing coupling mechanisms that have failed. Unfortunately the Casavant company no longer makes certain replacement parts\, so some aspects of the restoration work requires creative problem solving. We are fortunate to have two craftsmen\, well versed in the intricacies of Casavant organ construction\, caring for this precious instrument. \nThank you for your support of their ongoing restoration work.

They will present a rousing program of patriotic and band music favorites. Director Mark Nelson will lead the band through a diverse program of old favorites and new revelations!! \nThe Upper Valley Community Band is a roughly 50 member ensemble that performs throughout the Upper Valley region\, on both sides of the river. Throughout the fall\, winter\, and spring\, they perform several formal concerts across the region. During the summer\, you can often find them on their “rolling bandstand” at various parades and performing on town greens. The band regularly meets for rehearsals on Monday evenings throughout the year\, and is always welcoming new (or returning!) members. \nWant to know more about Mark Nelson?\nAfter teaching music for decades at colleges and secondary schools\, Mark moved to the Upper Valley in the summer of 2014. He has immersed himself in the region’s musical life\, taking on the roles of conductor\, teacher\, composer\, and singer. With her powerful third feature\, Mona Fastvold (co-writer of The Brutalist) digs deep into Lee’s story\, especially the profound childhood and early adult traumas that impacted her psychology and shaped her influential religious views. \nLee’s tragic loss of all her children in infancy or early childhood\, along with her radically unique interpretation of scripture\, transformed her into a fierce advocate for a more equitable and utopian society. All concert donations support the ongoing restoration of the organ. \nAll concerts will be followed by a reception in the Museum Herb Garden (weather permitting) or in the Great Stone Dwelling. \nSolo Organ Recital – Henry Danaher \nHenry Danaher is the Director of Music at the Church of Christ at Dartmouth College in Hanover\, NH\, and also serves as College\nOrganist at Dartmouth College.\nThe program will include masterworks from the French symphonic organ style and selections from his upcoming organ recitals in\nLithuania. \n  \nHenry Danaher\nOrgan Restoration Update\nBob Waters and Richard Nickerson are continuing to address important restoration needs on the Casavant organ in the Museum’s Mary Keane Chapel. This fall and winter they removed and completely rebuilt the wind chest that receives and regulates the air pressure produced by the organ’s electric blower. This included replacing all the original leather work that controls the release of air to the organ pipes. In addition to maintaining the organ’s tuning\, they have been repairing coupling mechanisms that have failed. Unfortunately the Casavant company no longer makes certain replacement parts\, so some aspects of the restoration work requires creative problem solving. We are fortunate to\nhave two craftsmen\, well versed in the intricacies of Casavant organ construction\, caring for this precious instrument. \nThank you for your support of their ongoing restoration work.

Careful consideration of comfort in your outdoor gear is important when creating art in the open air.  Feel free to bring a full plein air kit or for ease & simplicity bring a simple sketchbook with pencil & pen\, or anything you like\, whatever works in your favor. There will be locations that involve light hiking\, which will be noted in the monthly location description. We will have complimentary hand warmers available to keep those fingers moving.  This drop-in series is an opportunity to create a fun community of artists\, to be inspired\, creative\, adventurous\, & to be amidst nature in all seasons throughout the year! \n**You can register and pay online in advance\, or if needed Heidi can collect cash or check for the class upon arrival. \nFee: \n$8/session for LAC members\n $12 for non-members

All concert donations support the ongoing restoration of the organ. \nAll concerts will be followed by a reception in the Museum Herb Garden (weather permitting) or in the Great Stone Dwelling. \nOrgan Accompaniment to Silent Films\nPeter Krasinski\nPeter Krasinski specializes in the art of live improvised silent film accompaniment\, worldwide. He is a consultant to performance venues\, educational institutions\, and the Pipe Organ Community. He is currently the Prinicpal Organist at Mechanics Hall in Worcester\, MA.This evening of summer fun will be a ”double feature” starting with the beautiful film The Red Balloon\, an award-winning short film elegantly capturing the adventures of a boy who befriends a seemingly sentient balloonand follows it through the streets of Paris. Followed by The Cameraman a 1928 American silent romantic comedy film directed by Edward Sedgwick and starring Buster Keaton. \nPeter Krasinski\nOrgan Restoration Update\nBob Waters and Richard Nickerson are continuing to address important restoration needs on the Casavant organ in the Museum’s Mary Keane Chapel. This fall and winter they removed and completely rebuilt the wind chest that receives and regulates the air pressure produced by the organ’s electric blower. This included replacing all the original leather work that controls the release of air to the organ pipes. In addition to maintaining the organ’s tuning\, they have been repairing coupling mechanisms that have failed. Unfortunately the Casavant company no longer makes certain replacement parts\, so some aspects of the restoration work requires creative problem solving. We are fortunate to\nhave two craftsmen\, well versed in the intricacies of Casavant organ construction\, caring for this precious instrument. \nThank you for your support of their ongoing restoration work.

FREE live music! \nJoin us on the lawn of the beautiful Stone Machine Shop on Wednesdays of July and August for some free\, live music! Bring chairs or a picnic blanket and spread out on the lawn and listen to the band play. \nBring a picnic dinner to enjoy or purchase food from the on-site food truck. You’re welcome to bring your own food and non-alcoholic drinks. (State liquor laws prohibit outside alcohol from being brought onto the premises.) \nThis is not a BYOB event. \nLeashed and well-behaved dogs are welcome to join us. \nVending begins at 6 pm and the music starts at 7 pm. The Museum’s gift shop will also be open for visitors to visit either before or during the show. \nIn the case of bad weather\, the show will go on!\nWe will move the concert inside. Lewis and MaryBeth Zamer\, known on stage as The Twangtown Paramours\, have made a name for themselves defying boundaries with their award-winning catalogue of Americana\, Folk\, and Blues anthems. With a slew of accolades for their first three full-length albums\, they’ve earned a loyal following\, balancing serious instrumental and vocal chops with witty stage banter and a lighthearted approach to life.  Their latest album\, The Wind Will Change Again\, is an acoustic Folk record consisting of a collection of songs that the Twangers call their best to date. It was released in January of 2025 to rave reviews\, came in at #1 on the Folk Alliance International Chart\, and had six of the top ten songs for the month of release. \nHit songwriter\, session musician\, and producer Mike Lewis was born in NYC\, but his sound is informed by a mix of experiences across the country’s major music centers\, including NYC\, L.A.\, Austin\, and Nashville. His interest in music focuses on repertoire from the Baroque and Renaissance eras. He is also a ski instructor and soccer coach. Organist Henry Danaher is the Director of Music at The Church of Christ at Dartmouth College\, the principal accompanist for the Dartmouth College Glee Club\, and with the William Jewett Tucker Center\, serves as Dartmouth’s College Organist.
