SUMMARY:Feather Wool Tree Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Feather Wool Tree Workshop\nwith Jean Reed\nSunday\, November 2nd\, 2025\n9:00 am – 4:00 pm\nThese unique and whimsical trees are made from felted wool\, wrapped over wire stems\, and are enhanced with winter berries.  You will be using 100% felted wool and have a choice of colors.  Trees made in class are 18” tall and your kit includes a tree stand. \nFelted wool trees are not just for the Christmas or winter holidays but can also be done in colors that allow it to be an Easter tree or a tree for a baby shower. Your tree will measure 18” tall.  Embellishments such as lighting and ornaments are available. \nStudents should bring sharp fabric scissors (small ones\, such as embroidery scissors are great)\, a tape measure and a pencil.  Don’t forget a brown bag lunch and a good sense of humor. There will be a brief lunch break during the workshop. DESCRIPTION:Pantry Basket Workshop\nwith Dona Nazarenko\nSaturday\, November 1st\, 2025\n9:00 – 4:00pm\nJoin us in the Great Stone Dwelling dining room for a full day workshop! Add a modern twist to a traditional Shaker Pantry Basket in this hands-on workshop. Shaker sisters once wove pantry baskets so large they required two people to carry them—but today’s design offers both history and utility. This basket includes a woven side pocket\, perfect for extra tools\, garden supplies\, BBQ essentials\, or crafting materials. Participants will use natural round and flat reed\, paired with a tall oak handle\, and can choose to add color accents if desired. We’ll even decorate the top of the handle for a personal touch. Beginners will have the option to finish their rim work at home. \nWho is Doña Nazerenko? \nResiding in Tunbridge\, Vermont\, Doña Nazarenko has been weaving since 1988 and teaching since 1994. While living along the New Jersey coast\, Doña developed an interest in woodcrafts and related art forms that developed into her desire to take basket making classes in 1988. \nHer exploration of a different art medium has since evolved into a flourishing talent. She now enjoys making traditional baskets using reed with wooden accents to more challenging baskets using birch bark from the area surrounding her current residence in rural Vermont. \nThe highlight of the early years at her craft was having a one-on-one critique with John McGuire at Peter’s Gallery in 1992. His confidence in her and his discretion continues to help her with her current work. Today she can be seen demonstrating basketry representing Vermont fiber artists at local and out-of-state events. \n*Please bring your own lunch. DESCRIPTION:Elevate Your Knitting with Texture\nwith Katrina Geurkink\nSaturday\, November 1st\, 2025\n9:00 am – 5:00 pm\nTHIS WORKSHOP HAS BEEN CANCELLED. THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING.\nShaker arts and crafts are known for striking\, innovative\, and functional designs. Textured knitting shares these qualities. It can be used to create beautiful\, intriguing fabric with a range of performance features like stretch\, breathability\, durability\, moisture wicking and extra warmth. And your knitting doesn’t have to be complicated to create stunning\, textured pieces. It can be as simple as combining knit and purl stitches in unique ways; or employing increases and decreases in repetitive patterns that take your knitting to the next level. In this workshop we will explore a range of knitting stitches and techniques. Most are easy to learn and they all produce fabrics full of beautiful texture. We will begin with work on small pieces\, designed to develop skills and best practices. Once learned\, you will apply these skills to create a knitted item of your choice. The instructor has designed several textured knitting charts that can be incorporated into your project. You will receive the full collection of knitting charts during the workshop\, so you can continue developing your textured knitting skills at home and integrate the charts and stitches into future projects. This workshop is a great opportunity to get an early start on knitted gifts for the holidays. \nIn the workshop\, you will learn: \n\nDesign considerations for textured knitting: how to select the right yarn\, needles and color for your texture projects\, including advantages and disadvantages of different choices\nDifferent techniques to create texture in your knitting\, including: knit/purl combinations\, assigned pooling\, lace\, combining different fibers\, and simple cables\nCombining more than one texture in a project\nKnitting “rhythms” and how they can be used to increase accuracy and reduce “tinking” and “frogging”\nHow to read and work with textured knitting charts\nMany tips and tricks throughout the day as well as cameos about Shaker fiber art and crafts.\n\n  \nWorkshop participants will need to bring their own knitting needles and other tools (scissors\, etc.) and pay the materials fee in advance. This fee covers all the texture charts\, yarn\, some supplies and handouts for the workshop. Participants will have the option to purchase additional yarn\, texture patterns\, tools and other supplies on the day of the workshop. \n  \nSkill Level: Basic – Intermediate. You do not need textured knitting skills/experience to attend this workshop\, but you should have basic to intermediate knitting skills\, and enthusiasm and patience for learning new knitting techniques. \n  \nCost: \n$75.00 to register for the workshop\, plus the materials fee $35. Water and light refreshment will be provided. \n  \nYou will receive more information (including a detailed list of what to bring) via email when you register and pay for the workshop. \n  \nWho Is Katrina Geurkink? \nKatrina is a consultant\, designer and fiber artist living in Lebanon\, NH. She has taught\, studied and worked with organizations and learning communities for over thirty-seven years. She is a skilled facilitator\, consultant\, coach\, teacher and graphic recorder and has a wonderful way of interweaving these different abilities in her work with clients and other artists. She has traveled to many countries around the world\, leading projects\, giving presentations at conferences\, designing learning experiences and consulting with a variety of organizations and communities. \nShe first started playing with fiber when she was five years old. She learned how to knit and sew from her mother and grandmother\, and occasionally from her older sister. They were strong role models and a constant source of inspiration\, demonstrating over and over the incredible things one can create with one’s own hands. She started adapting knitting patterns as a teenager and creating her own knitting\, sewing and other designs when she was in her early twenties. She has played with many different disciplines in the realm of fiber arts: knitting\, crochet\, beading/wire working\, sewing\, surface design\, origami\, and visible mending to name a few. It was a limited group that was able to participate and both institutions want to make sure there is equal access. If you were unable to hike with us\, or if you missed it altogether\, this is the opportunity to listen in to the history and environmental practices happening on this site now. There will be current pictures from the hike to showcase\, as well as first hand anecdotes from UVLT and ESM staff members. \nSmith Pond Shaker Forest consists of 995 acres of forest and wetlands in Enfield located between two State Wildlife Management Areas. The three properties combine to provide thousands of acres of significant wildlife habitat. UVLT’s property boasts two waterfalls\, numerous articles from Shaker History including spillways\, dams\, canals\, and stone walls\, and the beautiful Smith Pond with serene and scenic views. \nIn the 1830s\, the Shakers dammed several ponds\, creating “Shaker Mountain Pond”\, and developed a system of canals to deliver water to their community near Lake Mascoma. UVLT’s property boasts two waterfalls\, numerous articles from Shaker History including spillways\, dams\, canals\, and stone walls\, and the beautiful Smith Pond with serene and scenic views. \nIn the 1830s\, the Shakers dammed several ponds\, creating “Shaker Mountain Pond”\, and developed a system of canals to deliver water to their community near Lake Mascoma. Today you can still find remnants of their through this forest\, such as gate posts and canals that led to Enfield Shaker Village. Hikers will gather at the Great Stone Dwelling at 9:30 am for a brief introduction and get underway about 10:00 am. The route will follow the Upper Valley Land Trust trail with a side spur to the waterfall. Although the hike is of moderate difficulty\, those who wished can follow along the canal (gentle grade) and turn back when the hike gets too steep. \nPlease wear weather appropriate clothing and sturdy shoes/boots. Plan to bring a bag lunch and beverage for a picnic along the way. This hike will provide excellent opportunities for photography. \nWe will meet at the head of the trail starting at 9:30am to prepare for the hike and get introductions underway. Less than a mile south from the Enfield Shaker Museum on Route 4A there is a parking lot for the Smith Pond Trail. Thank you for your understanding!\nJoin us in the meeting room of the Great Stone Dwelling for a presentation by Matthew Kirk from Hartgen Archaeological Associates. He will be visiting with a group of students and professors from Richmond University\, who will be analyzing various archaeological sites at the museum. Matthew is bringing some of his findings to talk about a Shaker community in New York. \nIn this presentation\, I revisit the interpretations from mitigation excavations in the Town of Colonie\, Albany County conducted in 2017 at the site of the original Shaker community in New York. The archeological evidence of a late 18th to early 19th-century structure located on the West Family farmstead of the Watervliet Shaker Community provides an opportunity to explore Shaker tobacco pipes and their cultural and religious significance for community members.  Smoking was common for both male and female members until the practice was banned in the 1850s. \n \nCost: \nNo admission cost\, but advanced registration required. \nComing from a distance? DESCRIPTION:Turkey Wing Whisk Broom Workshop\nSunday\, October 5\, 2025\n10:00 am – 4:00 pm\nDuring the 19th century\, the Enfield Shakers produced as many as “2000 dozen” brooms per year. Begun at Watervliet\, New York community\, in 1798\, the Shaker broom industry quickly became one of the most important industries for Shaker communities across the country. Brooms can also be seen as a symbol of an important Shaker ideal. Cleanliness was a spiritual and moral imperative. When Mother Ann Lee told her followers\, “Sweep clean\,” she was referring not only to the floor of the home\, but also the floor of the heart. \n \nJoin our resident broom squire Larry Antonuk for a Turkey Wing Whisk Broom Workshop. Begin by learning to make a simple bundle whisk broom\, including the knots and materials used to make all brooms. After you master the skills necessary to use a “tumble spool”\, you will move on to the more challenging turkey wing whisk broom. \nThese traditional\, functional\, high quality and long lasting brooms are made from natural broom corn. \nThis Turkey Wing Whisk Broom workshop takes place in the historic  Great Stone Dwelling dining room. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the Brethren’s West Shop and the historical equipment the Shaker Brother’s used to create their iconic brooms. \nClass size limited to 8. While watching a Broom Making demonstration he became fascinated with the process\, and wound up coming back for a private tutorial with Master Broom Maker Susan Brown. \n\n\nOne thing led to another\, and Larry is now a frequent demonstrator at the Museum. He has researched and reproduced a variety of Shaker designs\, and now sells his work in our Gift Shop. Larry is a juried member of the League of NH Craftsmen\, and can often be seen demonstrating at the Sunapee Fair.

Participants will work individually and together on several small pieces\, designed to develop colorwork skills and best practices. Once learned\, you will apply these skills to create a knitted item of your choice\, ranging from simple to complex. The instructor has designed several colorwork charts with Shaker-inspired motifs that can be incorporated into your project. You will receive the full collection of these knitting charts during the workshop\, so you can continue your colorwork at home and integrate the motifs in future projects. This workshop is a great opportunity to get an early start on knitted gifts for the holidays. \nIn the workshop\, you will learn: \n\nHow to select the right yarn for your colorwork projects\, including advantages and disadvantages of different yarns\nHow to apply color theory when selecting colors for your projects\nFive different types of colorwork: stranded (including Fair Isle)\, intarsia\, duplicate stitch\, and two ways to create striping\nDifferent styles of knitting and tools that can be used for colorwork; including ways to adjust and maintain tension to create high quality fabrics; and working flat and in the round\nDesign considerations for colorwork\nHow to read and work with colorwork charts\nStrategies for managing your yarn: to reduce twists and tangles; working with floats; and transitioning between different colors horizontally and vertically\nMany tips and tricks throughout the day as well as cameos about Shaker fiber art and crafts.\n\n  \nWorkshop participants will need to bring their own knitting needles and other tools (scissors\, etc.) and pay the materials fee in advance. She is a skilled facilitator\, consultant\, coach\, teacher and graphic recorder and has a wonderful way of interweaving these different abilities in her work with clients and other artists. She has traveled to many countries around the world\, leading projects\, giving presentations at conferences\, designing learning experiences and consulting with a variety of organizations and communities. \nShe first started playing with fiber when she was five years old. She learned how to knit and sew from her mother and grandmother\, and occasionally from her older sister. They were strong role models and a constant source of inspiration\, demonstrating over and over the incredible things one could create with one’s own hands. She started adapting knitting patterns as a teenager and creating her own knitting\, sewing and other designs when she was in her early twenties. DESCRIPTION:Hand Papermaking with Plants\nSunday August 24th\, 2025\n10:00 am – 1:30 pm\nEnfield Shaker Museum Herb Garden \n447 NH Route 4A \nEnfield\, NH 03748 \nJoin local artist Emma Percy for a day making paper in the herb garden! People have been using plant fibers to make paper for nearly 2\,000 years\, and in the present day the practice offers endless possibilities as a creative and artistic medium. This class will go through the traditional western-style papermaking process step-by-step: understanding different types of fiber and where they come from\, processing the plants and making pulp\, forming sheets\, adding decorative inclusions from in and around the garden\, and pressing and drying the sheets. Everyone will make several pieces of paper to use for their own art and craft projects\, for writing letters\, or simply to appreciate as art in its own right. You’ll also learn some strategies for making paper at home in a relatively small space without the need for much specialized equipment! \n \n*Please wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting wet\, and be mindful of the weather for this outdoor workshop. This will be an opportunity for them to use their imaginations and tap into their artistic side. Decorating their journals will create a very personal and whimsical book of their own and give them a place to write their special memories or explore their dreams. \n \nWith the exception of a few items\, their kit will include recylced and salvaged products. They will have a choice of books\, papers\, colored pencils and a wide variety of embellishments. Learn the basics of bird identification\, the wide diversity of birds you might see in New Hampshire\, and some tools of the trade to help you name the birds around you. This walk will be lead by Devin Guilfoyle from the New Hampshire Audubon’s Newfound Center. The trails your group will be walking are on conservation land\, where you may have the chance to see a bobolink and other rare birds. \nDevin Guilfoyle was recently promoted to Newfound Centers Public Programs Coordinator. Hailing from Schenectady\, New York\, he holds a bachelor’s degree in Conservation Biology from St. Lawrence University with years of experience in environmental education taking him to Vermont\, Georgia\, Minnesota\, Maine\, and now New Hampshire! \n“I’ve always been interested in the natural world\, particularly birds\,” Devin says. When making this basket you are using natural and dyed reed as this is a more modern style of the Traditional Shaker Cat Head basket. Shaping this into a Cat Head can be tricky as the sides will increase then to reach the rim area the rows must decrease in size. This is a beginner friendly class and Donna creates a pre-fabricated kit for each participant. You will leave the workshop with a completed basket. \nWho is Doña Nazerenko? \nResiding in Tunbridge\, Vermont\, Doña Nazarenko has been weaving since 1988 and teaching since 1994. While living along the New Jersey coast\, Doña developed an interest in woodcrafts and related art forms that developed into her desire to take basket making classes in 1988. \nHer exploration of a different art medium has since evolved into a flourishing talent. She now enjoys making traditional baskets using reed with wooden accents to more challenging baskets using birch bark from the area surrounding her current residence in rural Vermont. \nThe highlight of the early years at her craft was having a one-on-one critique with John McGuire at Peter’s Gallery in 1992. His confidence in her and his discretion continues to help her with her current work. Today she can be seen demonstrating basketry representing Vermont fiber artists at local and out-of-state events. \n*Please bring your own lunch. DESCRIPTION:Woven Rocks\nwith Jean Reed\nFriday\, July 11th\, 2025\n2:00 pm – 6:00 pm\nEnfield Shaker Museum \n447 NH Route 4A \nEnfield\, NH 03748 \nLet me share my weaving knowledge with you\, allowing you to create your own weaving patterns on rocks.  This unusual art form will give you some very basic weaving techniques with materials such as jute\, leather\, waxed linens and other cordages. \nThis is a wonderful way to embellish rocks you may have picked up on the trails or at the beaches\, during your travels.  Some of my rocks have come all the way from Ireland and Colorado.  Others that were gathered from a New Hampshire river bed will be supplied to you\, along with all the materials and tools needed to create unique weaving patterns. \nI urge you to bring some rocks of your own and a couple of small branches (twisted grapevine is great or tiny pieces of driftwood). Thank you for understanding.\nEnfield Shaker Museum \n447 NH Route 4A \nEnfield\, NH 03748 \nJoin Alice Schori for a guided wildflower identification walk through the Historic Enfield Shaker Land\, where you’ll explore the habitats of native plants in the region and the ecosystems that support them. Exploring a variety of plant communities\, become familiar with some of the common ferns and spring flowers of the Upper Valley. Some discussion of phenology (the study of how living things time natural events) and recognition of invasive\, non-native species will be included. \nThe walk will be mostly on easy terrain\, but will include some moderate hills and maybe a bit of bushwhacking. But never fear—Alice always proceeds at a botanist’s pace (=slow!). DESCRIPTION:Corbin’s Animal Garden with Mary Kroenenwetter\nWednesday\, April 9th\, 2025\n6:00 – 7:00 pm\nFree Admission\nEnfield Community Center \n308 US Route 4\n \nEnfield\, NH 03748 \nThe Enfield Public Library and Enfield Shaker Museum come together again to bring you a talk from Mary Kroenenwetter! This New Hampshire Humanities talk features a hunting club in central New Hampshire and the long history of its inhabitants. \nIn the late 1800s\, the banking\, railroad\, and real estate mogul Austin Corbin returned to his hometown in Newport\, New Hampshire. He built a grand estate and bought out his neighbors’ farms to create an 22\,000 acre wildlife game preserve stocked with boar\, bison\, bighorn sheep\, antelope\, elk\, Chinese pheasant\, and other imported animals. The grounds eventually became a prestigious private hunting park and hosted illustrious guests including Theodore Roosevelt\, the Prince of Wales\, Cornelius Vanderbilt\, Joe Dimaggio\, Rudyard Kipling\, and Augustus Saint Gaudens. This illustrated slideshow features archival images and a discussion of the complicated history and legacy of New Hampshire’s own American Gilded Age robber baron. The talk will also highlight the important legacy of the role the Corbin family and park naturalist Ernest Baynes played in the saving of the American bison from extinction. \nWho is Mary Kroenenwetter? \nMary Kronenwetter holds a doctorate in educational research\, policy\, and administration and has held academic administration and teaching positions at colleges in the United States\, China\, and Japan. Upon returning to New England\, she has worked at historical sites including Historic Deerfield\, Enfield Shaker Museum\, and The John Hay Estate at The Fells. Mary currently teaches for OSHER at Dartmouth and Adventures in Learning at Colby-Sawyer and has recently published the New Hampshire-based historical fiction\, Pauper Auction. \nThis program is made possible by New Hampshire Humanities. Some experience with a sewing machine is highly recommended. \n \nInstructor Bio: \nMary Ellen Rigby learned to sew as a youngster in a 4-H group in her hometown.  She has been learning\, sewing and collecting fabric ever since. Mary Ellen is a member of a fiber arts crafting group in the Upper Valley. She is also currently a volunteer at Enfield Shaker Museum and President of the museum’s Board of Trustees. \nEmbroidered Lavender Sachet with June Albright\nA lavender embroidered sachet workshop is a relaxing and creative experience where participants learn to make their own fragrant sachets. Using embroidery techniques\, they will decorate small squares of linen with intricate designs\, inspired by lavender flowers. Once the embroidery is complete\, the sachets are filled with dried lavender buds\, creating a soothing and aromatic keepsake. The workshop provides a calm and enjoyable atmosphere\, allowing participants to unwind while learning a new craft and leaving with a beautifully handmade item that carries both personal creativity and the calming scent of lavender. \n  \nInstructor Bio: \nJune Albright learned to embroider as a child\, taught by her grandmother. For the past 30 years\, she has enjoyed teaching embroidery at the Upper Valley Waldorf School to grade school students. June teaches embroidery\, mainly to adults\, at Craft Studies in White River Junction.\nShe has enjoyed furthering her skills at the San Francisco School of Needlework and Design and the Royal School of Needlework in London.\nCreative Mending with Jennifer Duff\nLearn to use the Swiss darning technique on knits! Visible Mending is a great way to preserve your knits while showing off your skills and adding a pop of color. \nLearn basic stitches and choosing materials before practicing Swiss darning over thinning areas or stocking web darning over holes. Skill level: Some basic sewing or knitting experience is helpful but not required. \nIf you have garments in need of repair please bring them and as time allows we can go over and explore solutions or work on them with your new skills. If you do not\, swatches are provided to everyone. \n \nInstructor Bio: \nJennifer Duff (she/her)\, of Wildwood Mending\, is a lifelong artist with a BA from Bard College in studio arts. She draws on that background to imagine creative repairs in her mending. We will be working on a hat in class. \n \nInstructor Bio: \nDonna Kay is a knitting instructor and designer as well as an accomplished hand spinner. Known for her patient teaching manner\, she delights in sharing her knowledge and passion for folk traditions with her students. You will knit a small stitch sampler to learn how to work the patterns and read the charts and leave with a pattern for finger-less mitts. Using wool roving\, hot water\, olive oil soap and your own two hands\, you can transform wool into sculpt-able felt fabric. You will learn how to wet felt\, how to create organic forms and how to make multi layered felt to build up multiple sets of petals to create your own lovely piece floral fiber art! \n \nInstructor Bio: \nMallory Zondag is a mixed-media fiber artist and artist educator. Her experience with textiles while in art school led her to create both independent and community sculpture through a variety of fiber art mediums. She explores deeply personal and connective universal stories through the meditative and hands-on practices of wet felting\, weaving\, sculpting\, and stitching\, seeking to bring the ephemeral into physical being.  The growth and decay of the natural world\, the duality of discomfort and attraction we feel towards it\, and humanity’s place within this dichotomy informs her dimensional textures and sculptural pieces. \nExplore Tapestry Weaving with Becky Powell\nWhat is it\, how does it differ from other weaving\, and how is it done?\nA talk and demonstration\, followed by the opportunity to make a small tapestry for yourself. Weaving segment limited to the first six who register for this mini-workshop.\n\n\n\nInstructor Bio:\n\nBecky Powell has been a weaver for over 50 years\, beginning as a young teenager. She received a BA in art\, with a concentration in fibers\, from the University of Northern Colorado. After many years of weaving mostly functional items such as clothing and table linens\, she wanted to produce work that stood alone as art\, which led her to focus on tapestry weaving. She has had tapestry instruction from James Koehler\, Tommye Scanlin\, Patricia Williams\, and Maximo Laura.\n\nBecky’s primary inspiration is the endless variety of forms and colors in nature. She prefers to abstract from nature\, rather than trying to achieve photo-like realism. Her intention is to make work that speaks to the viewer through color\, pattern\, memory and emotion.\n\nKnit a Shaker Dishcloth with Carolyn Smith\n“A History of Hand Knitting” by Richard Rutt\, describes a dishcloth knit by the 19th century Shakers “The washcloths were circular\, made of 16 segments of garter stitch\, arranged in alternating colours. The rows ran radially\, decreasing from the centre in alternate shortened rows.” These dishcloths were knit on Size 0 knitting needles using very fine cotton thread\, several of these dishcloths can be found in museum collections today. In this class you will learn to knit a modern version of this historic textile. We will be working with Size 2 (or larger) needles and sport weight cotton yarn. All materials and patterns will be provided. Whether you’re working on a unfinished project from the weekend or personal ones\, you’ll find a welcoming space to chat\, share tips\, and enjoy the creative energy of others. \nYoga for Crafters\nJoin Sharon for an all-levels yoga class that will focus on simple exercises—many of which can be done from a chair—which focuses on countering the effects of crafting on the hands\, arms\, shoulders and hips. We’ll explore how movement might help us focus\, create\, and bravely send our ideas into the world!  \nNo previous yoga experience is needed. Much of our practice will be done seated in chairs or stools. Modifications will be taught for those who wish to work from the floor or yoga mat.  \n \nInstructor Bio: \nSharon Comeau has been practicing yoga since 1999 and teaching since 2005. She started as an apprentice under Leslie Carleton’s fine tutelage\, and received certification from Yoga Alliance in 2010\, after studying with Deb Neubauer and Todd Norian. Sharon came to yoga from her interest in movement\, as an athlete and dancer for most of her life. She started with Bikram Yoga\, moved to the Upper Valley and in her yoga practice into vinyasa yoga\, and her teacher training was in Hatha Yoga\, focused on the Anusara School of Yoga. Known for her attention to detail\, kind teaching\, and heart-centered themes\, Sharon is pleased to welcome yogis of all traditions and levels into her classes. \nPractice Mending: A World of Clothes Made & Scraps Saved with Brece Honeycutt\nBrece Honeycutt’s grandmother stacked and stored her quilts in the attic.  One of her favorite pastimes was sneaking to the attic\, unfolding the quilts and looking at their patterns and fabrics. She believes this is how she learned color theory.  A discarded box of one inch quilt squares\, a lesson using the drop spindle\, a goldenrod field turned into dye; these happenstances led Honeycutt to construct textiles\, research historic texts and produce textures in her sculptures and installations.  She will discuss these interwoven occurrences in her evening talk and slideshow.   \n \nPresenter Bio: \nBrece Honeycutt\, a multimedia artist\, uses research as a material for her history and nature based works. Honeycutt continues her research documenting the Shaker communal society through residencies\, fellowships and writing a manuscript. In 2024\, she presented her paper Prismatic Utopia at the Deerfield Forum\, A Rich and Varied Palette: Coloring New England’s Past and at the Enfield Shaker Forum\, where she received the annual award “for presenter demonstrating the highest standard in new outstanding scholarship.” Her installations have been placed in university campuses\, historic houses\, inner-city parks and in office buildings\, libraries\, urban markets and galleries.  She enthusiastically collaborates with artists\, students\, gardeners\, poets\, and dancers and thanks all of the historians\, archivists\, librarians and curators for their knowledge and assistance.  Honeycutt holds a B.A. in Art History from Skidmore College and an M.F.A. in sculpture from Columbia University. \nPracticing Real-Self Care for Wellness: A Peaceful Fiber Arts Exploration with Susan Quinlan\nJoin us for an evening of relaxation\, creativity\, and self-care at the Enfield Shaker Museum Fiber Festival. \nGuided by Susan Quinlan\, this workshop will explore the true meaning of self-care through thoughtful discussion and a calming mindfulness meditation session. \nParticipant will engage in hands-on activities\, including blending your own herbal teas\, creating soothing herbal sachets\, and practicing gentle hand relaxation techniques. Discover how the meditative rhythm of fiber arts can bring balance\, reduce stress\, and foster well-being. Come connect\, create\, and have fun. You will leave feeling refreshed and inspired. \n \nInstructor Bio: \nSusan Quinlan is the Garden Coordinator for Enfield Shaker Museum and manages the 7\,000 square foot herb garden. Susan is a retired registered nurse who has been creating and caring for gardens and people for fifty years. She teaches hands-on herb gardening and herbal crafting. DESCRIPTION:I am delighted to welcome you to the Enfield Shaker Museum Herb Garden\, Volunteer Program. This is an Opportunity to learn the history\, connect with herbs and learn their properties.This is a hands on gardening experience. You will have a chance to meet our fellow volunteers and the garden team. There will be an overview of each role and upcoming garden plans. We welcome you to come and ask questions and bring new ideas\, in a relaxed setting. Please come and enjoy some light refreshments as well all connect and plan for the upcoming gardening season! No gardening experience is required but always welcomed.
