Henry will introduce you to newer\, hardier rose varieties that are naturally resistant to disease and insects\, offering practical guidance on proper planting techniques and care. \nIn addition to roses\, Henry will showcase a stunning selection of perennials—both beloved classics and lesser-known beauties. Through engaging slides and insightful tips\, you’ll learn how to cultivate native flowers and plants that support pollinators and birds\, enhancing the biodiversity of your garden. \nMore about Henry \nHenry Homeyer is the author of 4 gardening books and a UNH Master Gardener for over 20 years. He has been writing a gardening column for newspapers around New England for more than 26 years\, and was the New Hampshire/Vermont Associate \nEditor of People\, Places and Plants magazine for 10 years. He is the recipient of the Fred E. Beane Award in 2024. DESCRIPTION:Soap Making Workshop\nwith Betsy Gibbs\nSaturday\, March 8th\, 2025\n11:00 am – 3:00 pm\nEnfield Shaker Museum \n447 NH Route 4A \nEnfield\, NH 03748 \nJoin us for a hands-on Soap Making Workshop with Betsy Gibbs. You will learn the traditional art of hot process soap making. This workshop offers a unique opportunity to learn time-tested techniques in crafting natural\, handmade soap\, just like the Shakers did. Participants will explore the history and benefits of hot process soap making\, learn about various oils and additives\, and create their own batch of soap to take home. Perfect for beginners and seasoned soap makers alike\, this class provides practical skills and a deeper appreciation for craftsmanship. All materials will be provided. \nPlease bring a bag lunch and an apron. \nSoup and beverage will be provided. \nMore about Betsy Gibbs:\nAfter a childhood of tie-dying\, weaving and painting\, Betsy Gibbs began her career in Arts/Nature crafts as the Arts and Crafts counselor at Camp Little Notch in the Adirondacks. She later studied watercolor painting with Ludmila Gayvoronsky at the Newport Library Art Center and Nature Journaling from Becky Darling of Concord’s Kimball Art Center. She took a class on soap-making at Enfield Shaker Museum and then taught herself hot process soap making. Until June 2024\, she sold her soaps and salves through her business\,Edge of the Woods Arts\,\n(Edgeofthewoodsart.square.site).
