Guided by experienced box maker John Cashman\, you will make five (5) Shaker Oval Nesting Boxes\, from Pennsylvania cherry wood. Beginners are welcome! \nAll tools and materials supplied. Students can bring their own eye and ear protection\, but we will have plenty of both for everyone. Participants should bring a bag lunch each day and water bottle. \nMuseum Member – $265/person \nNon-Member – $285/person \nClass size is limited to 12. Advance registration is required. \nAll proceeds from this workshop go to support the educational mission of Enfield Shaker Museum. \nComing from a distance? Why not plan to stay overnight in the historic Great Stone Dwelling? Check out room availability here. \nCheck our Events Calendar for other events happening this weekend. \nWant to know more about John Cashman? \nJohn Cashman has been making oval boxes for over 15 years. He’s been an avid student of box making\, studying both original Shaker-made boxes and modern production methods. He’s made boxes as small as a quarter\, and as large as a coffee table. John sells his boxes through the Shaker museum shops at Enfield\, NH and Sabbathday Lake\, Maine. He’s recently had a nest of 15 boxes exhibited at The Fuller Craft Museum.

SUMMARY:Berry Basket Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Berry Basket Workshop\nwith Dona Nazarenko\nSaturday\, July 25\, 2026\n10:00 – 5:00pm\nJoin us in the Great Stone Dwelling dining room for a full day workshop!  Berry baskets were traditionally hand woven of oak or ash. They were designed to hold individual servings of berries. A Berry Basket has many uses such as for the gardener\, or hobbyist and they also make a great storage container. Participants will use natural reed\, paired with a wood handle\, and can choose to add color accents if desired.  All skill levels welcome.  This square basket measures approximately 6 ½” x 6 ½” x 11 ½” high with handle. \nWho is Doña Nazerenko? \nResiding in Tunbridge\, Vermont\, Doña Nazarenko has been weaving since 1988 and teaching since 1994. While living along the New Jersey coast\, Doña developed an interest in woodcrafts and related art forms that developed into her desire to take basket making classes in 1988. \nHer exploration of a different art medium has since evolved into a flourishing talent. She now enjoys making traditional baskets using reed with wooden accents to more challenging baskets using birch bark from the area surrounding her current residence in rural Vermont. \nThe highlight of the early years at her craft was having a one-on-one critique with John McGuire at Peter’s Gallery in 1992. His confidence in her and his discretion continues to help her with her current work. Today she can be seen demonstrating basketry representing Vermont fiber artists at local and out-of-state events. Most days she can be found working in her studio at Country Spirit Baskets \nPlease bring your own lunch. Water and light refreshments will be provided. \nCost: \nMuseum Members – $65 \nNon-Members – $75 \nAll proceeds go to the educational mission of Enfield Shaker Museum. \nComing from a distance? Stay at the historic Great Stone Dwelling. Check our room availability here.
