DESCRIPTION:Printmaking with Botanical Materials Series\nwith Pam Smith Part 2\nJuly 10th\, 2025\n5:30 pm – 8:00 pm\nEnfield Shaker Museum \n447 NH Route 4A \nEnfield\, NH 03748 \nJoin us for the second workshop in our printmaking series\, where you’ll take the gel prints you created in the first workshop and transform them into beautiful botanical-themed collages. This hands-on session will introduce you to essential collage techniques such as cutting\, layering\, and arranging printed papers\, with a special focus on incorporating plant-inspired designs. You’ll learn how to use repetition\, symmetry\, and contrast to create visually dynamic compositions\, all while exploring the elegance of botanical forms. With a variety of materials to work with\, including botanical images and patterned papers\, you’ll have the opportunity to create a unique piece that reflects the natural beauty of plants. \nWorkshop 2: Botanical Printed Paper Collage – July 10th\, 2025\n\nObjective: Use the prints created in the first workshop to create botanical-themed collages.\nMaterials: Gel prints\, scissors\, glue\, additional botanical images\, patterned papers\, and other collage materials.\nActivities:\n\nCollage Techniques: Introduction to collage basics—cutting\, layering\, and arranging printed papers to form a cohesive composition.\nBotanical Design Focus: Guide participants in using their prints to create collages\, focusing on the beauty and simplicity of plant forms. Discuss how botanical elements can be combined to evoke natural themes and designs.\nLayering and Composition: Explore different ways to balance and layer paper\, encouraging participants to work with repetition\, symmetry\, or contrast to create dynamic collages.\n\n\n\n\n			\n				\n			\n			\n				\n			\n			\n				\n			\n		\n\nWorkshop 3: Journal Making with Botanical Prints and Collage – August 14th\, 2025\n\nObjective: Teach participants to create a journal using their botanical prints and collages.\nMaterials: Collage materials from previous workshops\, blank pages\, binding materials (needle\, thread\, cardboard or chipboard)\, botanical images for decoration.\nActivities:\n\nIntroduction to Journal Binding: Demonstrate a simple binding technique like pamphlet stitching to create the structure of the journal.\nDecorating the Journal: Participants will decorate their journal covers and pages using their botanical prints\, collages\, and additional elements such as stamps\, drawings\, or stenciling.\n\nPersonalizing the Journal: Encourage participants to use their journals for future creative projects\, notes\, or sketches\, giving them space to reflect and design with botanical inspiration\n\n\n\n\nWho is Pam Smith? \n\nPam is a New Hampshire artist and printmaker. She is an avid gardener\, and her creative inspiration comes from the natural beauty all around us. Her work ranges from botanical relief prints and monoprints to whimsical collages and often combines traditional printmaking\, painting and mixed media. \nPam’s original linocut prints and monoprints are designed\, hand-carved\, and hand-pressed by hand at Art Haven Studio in Enfield. SUMMARY:Woven Rocks with Jean Reed
DESCRIPTION:Woven Rocks\nwith Jean Reed\nFriday\, July 11th\, 2025\n2:00 pm – 6:00 pm\nEnfield Shaker Museum \n447 NH Route 4A \nEnfield\, NH 03748 \nLet me share my weaving knowledge with you\, allowing you to create your own weaving patterns on rocks.  This unusual art form will give you some very basic weaving techniques with materials such as jute\, leather\, waxed linens and other cordages. \nThis is a wonderful way to embellish rocks you may have picked up on the trails or at the beaches\, during your travels.  Some of my rocks have come all the way from Ireland and Colorado.  Others that were gathered from a New Hampshire river bed will be supplied to you\, along with all the materials and tools needed to create unique weaving patterns. \nI urge you to bring some rocks of your own and a couple of small branches (twisted grapevine is great or tiny pieces of driftwood). Keep in mind as you collect rocks\, that no shape or size should be overlooked.  As you can see from the photos\, I’ve used a variety of large (5-6”)\, small (at least 3”)\, flat rocks are easiest to work with but round ones are a good challenge. \nFeel free to contact me at murrayhillweaving@gmail.com  with questions. \n \nLearn more about the Instructor: \nMurray Hill Weaving is Jean Reed’s dream come true – resulting from her love of basketry\, and weaving for over 45 years. \nBasketry classes took a natural turn into chair seating and other types of art which include a variety of children’s workshops. Located at 685 Murray Hill Road\, Hill\, NH\, the heart of New Hampshire\, Jean teaches in her shop\, and art studios around the country. \nShe has taught for the NH League of Craftsmen\, as well conventions in Michigan\, North Carolina\, Kentucky\, Stowe Basket Festival and Northeast Basketmakers Guild.
