SUMMARY:Make A Turkey Wing Whisk Broom
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \nTurkey Wing Whisk Broom Workshop\nSaturday\, November 14\, 2026\n10:00 am – 4:00 pm\nDuring the 19th century\, the Enfield Shakers produced as many as “2000 dozen” brooms per year. Begun at Watervliet\, New York community\, in 1798\, the Shaker broom industry quickly became one of the most important industries for Shaker communities across the country. Brooms can also be seen as a symbol of an important Shaker ideal. Cleanliness was a spiritual and moral imperative. When Mother Ann Lee told her followers\, “Sweep clean\,” she was referring not only to the floor of the home\, but also the floor of the heart. \n \nJoin our resident broom squire Larry Antonuk for a Turkey Wing Whisk Broom Workshop. Begin by learning to make a simple bundle whisk broom\, including the knots and materials used to make all brooms. After you master the skills necessary to use a “tumble spool”\, you will move on to the more challenging turkey wing whisk broom. Students will end the class with multiple hand brooms and an understanding of many new techniques \nThese traditional\, functional\, high quality and long lasting brooms are made from natural broom corn. \nThis Turkey Wing Whisk Broom workshop takes place in the historic Great Stone Dwelling dining room. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the Brethren’s West Shop and the historical equipment the Shaker Brother’s used to create their iconic brooms. \nClass size limited to 8. Advance registration required. \nPlease bring a bag lunch\, closed-toe shoes and a water bottle. \nCost:  \nMuseum Members – $65/per person (includes materials) \nNon-Members – $75/per person (includes materials) \n*Please select the quantity of tickets you would like before clicking the “Get Tickets” button. \nAll proceeds from this workshop go to support the educational mission of Enfield Shaker Museum. \nComing from a distance? Why not plan to stay overnight in the historic Great Stone Dwelling? Check out room availability here. \nMore about our Broom Squire Larry Antonuk:\n\nSometime in 2010\, Larry Antonuk found himself on a tour of the Enfield Shaker Museum. While watching a Broom Making demonstration he became fascinated with the process\, and wound up coming back for a private tutorial with Master Broom Maker Susan Brown. \n\n\nOne thing led to another\, and Larry is now a frequent demonstrator at the Museum. He has researched and reproduced a variety of Shaker designs\, and now sells his work in our Gift Shop. Larry is a juried member of the League of NH Craftsmen\, and can often be seen demonstrating at the Sunapee Fair. \n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:KALOS in Concert
DESCRIPTION:KALOS in Concert\nFriday\, December 4\, 2026\n7:00 – 9:00 pm\nChosen Vale Performance Center\n\nKALOS brings together three musicians of remarkable caliber. Ryan McKasson—who made history as the youngest winner of the US National Scottish Fiddle Championship in 1996—handles violin and viola; Eric McDonald—a much-in-demand session musician—provides guitar and mandolin. McLane\, whose musical journey spans classical piano\, blues\, Indonesian gamelan\, and West African drumming\, rounds out the trio on accordion and piano. Each player can all croon like there’s no tomorrow. \n\nThe trio spans three generations\, three cities and two countries. Ryan McKasson (violin\, viola\, voice)\, Eric McDonald (guitar\, mandolin\, voice) and Jeremiah McLane (accordion\, piano\, voice) met over the years at highland games\, contra dances and fiddle camps across North America. They made their first recording in 2016 and have been touring together since 2019. Kalos prizes the magic of live performance—breathing\, dancing and weaving together like high-wire acrobats. They are as generous as they are virtuosic. Like nature itself\, their music is full of chaos and chance yet always feels spacious and balanced. Their concerts are more an exposé than a performance—they are immersive\, trance-inducing experiences. \nOTHER CONCERTS IN THE SERIES (See individual concert listings for details):\nSaturday\, October 10 – Berklee Jazz Cats\nSaturday\, November 7 – Randy Miller\nSingle Concert Tickets: \nMuseum Members – $25 \nNon-Members – $30 \nConcert Series Tickets: \nMuseum Members – $60 \nNon-Members – $75 \nPlenty of FREE parking.  Chosen Vale Performance Center – 410 NH Rte 4A\, Enfield\, NH 03748 \n
