SUMMARY:Berry Basket Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Berry Basket Workshop\nwith Dona Nazarenko\nSaturday\, July 25\, 2026\n10:00 – 5:00pm\nJoin us in the Great Stone Dwelling dining room for a full day workshop!  Berry baskets were traditionally hand woven of oak or ash. They were designed to hold individual servings of berries. A Berry Basket has many uses such as for the gardener\, or hobbyist and they also make a great storage container. Participants will use natural reed\, paired with a wood handle\, and can choose to add color accents if desired.  All skill levels welcome.  This square basket measures approximately 6 ½” x 6 ½” x 11 ½” high with handle. \nWho is Doña Nazerenko? \nResiding in Tunbridge\, Vermont\, Doña Nazarenko has been weaving since 1988 and teaching since 1994. While living along the New Jersey coast\, Doña developed an interest in woodcrafts and related art forms that developed into her desire to take basket making classes in 1988. \nHer exploration of a different art medium has since evolved into a flourishing talent. She now enjoys making traditional baskets using reed with wooden accents to more challenging baskets using birch bark from the area surrounding her current residence in rural Vermont. \nThe highlight of the early years at her craft was having a one-on-one critique with John McGuire at Peter’s Gallery in 1992. His confidence in her and his discretion continues to help her with her current work. Today she can be seen demonstrating basketry representing Vermont fiber artists at local and out-of-state events. Most days she can be found working in her studio at Country Spirit Baskets \nPlease bring your own lunch. Water and light refreshments will be provided. \nCost: \nMuseum Members – $65 \nNon-Members – $75 \nAll proceeds go to the educational mission of Enfield Shaker Museum. \nComing from a distance? Stay at the historic Great Stone Dwelling. Check our room availability here.
