We’ll harvest ingredients from the Shaker Gardens\, and embrace the spirit of farm-to-table by utilizing meat and fresh produce sourced from local farms. Each session will highlight the importance of fresh\, local produce\, and you’ll learn to create mouthwatering meals that celebrate the bounty of the season. Just as the Shakers were known for their dedication to quality\, self-sufficiency\, and using fresh\, homegrown ingredients\, this workshop emphasizes creating delicious\, homemade pasta using produce and herbs from our farm. Join us in honoring Shaker traditions by transforming simple\, wholesome ingredients into delightful\, rustic dishes. \nMenu for June 7th Class \nRicotta Gnocchi \nRicotta Tortellini with Meatballs\, Red Sauce and Homemade Pasta \nFresh Garden Salad using seasonal produce and Shaker Herb Dressing \nHomemade Panna Cotta for dessert \nWeather permitting\, dine in the Shaker Herb Garden \nEnjoy locally sourced ingredients from Stewart Farm\, and the Shaker Gardens \nRed and White table wine will be offered at dinner. \nGroups of four will work together at three work stations to create a meal to share together while learning about Shaker cooking practices and techniques\, Shaker self-sustainability\, and communal dining. \nClass is limited to 12 participants. Working with our Garden Coordinator Susan Quinlan\, you will gather an herbal bundle that will be used to create your own “tussie mussie”\, a charming Victorian-era bouquet filled with fragrant herbs and flowers that was often used to send a coded floral message. \nLearn about the history and significance of fragrant herbs and their role in Shaker life\, traditional medicine\, and modern aromatherapy practices. Discover the secrets of blending various herbs and botanicals to craft unique aromatic mixtures. Explore the different properties of herbs and how they can enhance your well-being through the power of scent. \nJoin us on a journey of sensory delight as you blend an herbal spray and create an aromatic potpourri that will leave you feeling inspired and rejuvenated! \nAll materials are included. \nClass is limited to 12 participants. She is a self taught and dedicated organic gardener living in Canaan\, NH.  She grows flowers\, herbs\, vegetables\, perennials\, and shrubs on a northern slope. Susan creates wreaths for all seasons and gives hands-on workshops in wildcrafting. She is currently the Garden Coordinator at Enfield Shaker Museum. Her passion is to create connections between people and plants. \n
