SUMMARY:2025 Mary Keane Chapel Summer Concert Series
DESCRIPTION:Mary Keane Chapel Summer Concert Series\nSunday\, July 27th\, 2025\n4:00 pm Start\nAll concerts will be held in the Mary Keane Chapel\nEnfield Shaker Museum\n447 NH Route 4A\nEnfield\, NH 03748\nshakermuseum.org \nSuggested donation $15.00. All concert donations support the ongoing restoration of the organ. \nAll concerts will be followed by a reception in the Museum Herb Garden (weather permitting) or in the Great Stone Dwelling. \nFlute and Organ Recital\nChristina Jennings & Gail Jennings\nIn great demand as a teacher\, Christina Jennings is Associate Professor of Flute at the University of Colorado Boulder\, and on the\nsummer faculty of Greenwood Music Camp. Director of the Panoramic Flutist Seminar and the Once a Flutist Festival\, both in Boulder.\nGail Jennings has recently retired after 31 years as Organist at Bethlehem United Church of Christ in Ann Arbor\, Michigan. Gail attended the Mannes College of Music and the Juilliard School. She has studied organ with Phillip Steinhaus\, Anthony Newman\, and Marilyn Mason. \nChristina Jennings\nGail Jennings\nOrgan Restoration Update\nBob Waters and Richard Nickerson are continuing to address important restoration needs on the Casavant organ in the Museum’s Mary Keane Chapel. This fall and winter they removed and completely rebuilt the wind chest that receives and regulates the air pressure produced by the organ’s electric blower. This included replacing all the original leather work that controls the release of air to the organ pipes. In addition to maintaining the organ’s tuning\, they have been repairing coupling mechanisms that have failed. Unfortunately the Casavant company no longer makes certain replacement parts\, so some aspects of the restoration work requires creative problem solving. We are fortunate to\nhave two craftsmen\, well versed in the intricacies of Casavant organ construction\, caring for this precious instrument. \nThank you for your support of their ongoing restoration work.

DESCRIPTION:Birding Walk\nwith NH Audubon\nSaturday\, August 2nd\, 2025\n8:00 – 9:30 am\nGift Shop at \nEnfield Shaker Museum \n447 NH Route 4A \nEnfield\, NH 03748 \nDiscover what makes a bird a bird in this beginner birding class. Learn the basics of bird identification\, the wide diversity of birds you might see in New Hampshire\, and some tools of the trade to help you name the birds around you. This walk will be lead by Devin Guilfoyle from the New Hampshire Audubon’s Newfound Center. The trails your group will be walking are on conservation land\, where you may have the chance to see a bobolink and other rare birds. \nDevin Guilfoyle was recently promoted to Newfound Centers Public Programs Coordinator. Hailing from Schenectady\, New York\, he holds a bachelor’s degree in Conservation Biology from St. Lawrence University with years of experience in environmental education taking him to Vermont\, Georgia\, Minnesota\, Maine\, and now New Hampshire! \n“I’ve always been interested in the natural world\, particularly birds\,” Devin says. His appreciation of nature began with exploring the woods behind his grandmother’s house as a child and solidified in his undergraduate studies through classes such as ecology\, ornithology\, and ecology of lakes and rivers. Through outdoor education and programming\, Devin strives “to inspire a sense of wonder about the natural world in visitors\, young and old. My hope is by inspiring this wonder\, people will be moved to conserve natural spaces.” \nCost: \nFree Admission \n*Advanced Registration is Required.
