2025 Annual Meeting

Sunday, November 9th, 2025

2:00 – 4:00 pm

Great Stone Dwelling Meeting Room and Zoom Online

Join us for the Enfield Shaker Museum 2025 Annual Members Meeting. The meeting will kick off with board and staff introductions followed by a special presentation by Andrew Cushing of Mascoma Valley Preservation. Andrew Cushing leads the regional nonprofit, Mascoma Valley Preservation. Prior to that, he worked for the NH Preservation Alliance and Bureau of Historic Sites at NH State Parks. He has visited every town in New Hampshire, authored 88 historic register nominations, and co-authored over 20 historic building assessments. He has seen a lot of schoolhouse museums. He’s kept on his financial tippy toes by restoring several old houses in his hometown of Grafton, skills he was not necessarily taught at Bowdoin College or the University of Pennsylvania where he got his expensive degrees.

This will be followed by our annual business meeting which includes highlights of the past year, plans for the future, and the election of new Board members and officers.

“When We Find Ourselves in the Place Just Right: Rethinking Historic Preservation”

It is probably time to revise our approach to museums and historic preservation. America’s Bicentennial marked a decade of landmark national and state legislation that aimed to reverse a generation of postwar urban renewal efforts. Museum attendance rose, historical societies formed, and communities established regulated historic districts. By many metrics, historical awareness increased. But today’s society is more diverse, polarized, and arguably inattentive. How does preservation reinvent itself to remain relevant as we approach our nation’s 250th?
