Join us at the Enfield Shaker Museum for a romantic evening of jazz music, dancing and delicious bites! Celebrate Valentine’s Day in style with the enchanting live Jazz performance by Grace Wallace and accompanists, who will set the mood with soulful and captivating vocals. A cash bar with a signature cocktail and hors d’oeuvres buffet will provide the perfect atmosphere for an evening with your significant other.
Grace Wallace (vocals)
Grace was born and raised in Worcestershire, England and began studying classical piano at the age of 11 through the Associated Board of The Royal Schools of Music. In 2003 she won an academic scholarship to attend St. Mary’s School in Worcester and in 2004 won a music scholarship enabling her to take on classical flute also through ABRSM.After moving to the US, she became a student with the Interplay Jazz & Arts Organization where she discovered her love for singing. Through this, she’s had the opportunity to study with Madeline Kole, Natalia Bernal and Sharon Broadly Martin.For the past 4 years she has been performing in the Upper Valley area of NH & VT, but this year began performing in ME & MA. This included multiple dates with well known sea coast Jazz musicians Fred Haas, Mark Shilansky, Les Harris Jr, David Newsam, Bronek Suchanek, John Hunter, Nate Jorgensen and Mark Poniatowski. She is currently working on two CD’s, with hopeful release dates in early 2025.
John Pierce (Bass)
Originally from Setauket, New York, John Pierce is an active performer on both acoustic bass and trombone. He came to Boston in 1978 to study trombone at Berklee College of Music and earned his Masters of Music from New England Conservatory in 2001, in Jazz Studies, Performance on acoustic bass. As a free-lance bassist, John has performed with various artists including Herb Pomeroy, John LaPorta, Dick Johnson, Joe Beck and various groups in the New England area. Bandleader/bassist for John Pierce trio and quartets at All Seasons Table restaurant in Malden, MA and in various other venues in the Boston area. As a trombonist, John has performed with artists including Lou Rawls, Tony Bennett, Cab Calloway, Gladys Knight and the White Heat Swing Orchestra. A Professor at Berklee for the past 30 years, John teaches ensembles and ear training. He has also performed in concerts and clinics in Japan, Germany, Greece, Israel, Finland, Brazil, Costa Rica, Barbados and the British Virgin Islands. He has regularly been a featured artist at the Cool Jazz Series in St. Lawrence Gap, Barbados and is also one of the directors of the Berklee Summer Performance Program. Recordings include: Dick Tracy Soundtrack, Sire/Warner Brothers, with the White Heat Swing Orchestra, Patti Austin, Ice-T, Jerry Lee Lewis, 1990, Form and Function, Jon Hazilla and Saxabone, CIMP Recordings (1998), Toe Tappin’ Jazz, Jay Geils, North Star, 2009, Destinations, Jim Repa, World Lizard Records, 2009.
Bruce Sklar (piano)
Bruce Sklar, a revered figure in Vermont’s jazz scene, brings decades of experience as a jazz composer, pianist, educator, and performer. Having been active since 1975, Sklar’s contributions to jazz education and performance have made him one of the most recognized musicians in the state. His work extends beyond performances to nurturing future generations of jazz musicians through various educational programs, including the Spring Jazz Lab, emphasizing improvisation and creative expression.
