Holiday Balsam Wreath Workshop
December 7th, 4:30 – 6:30 pm, Great Stone Dwelling
Instructor: Marya Merriam of Wood Frog Flowers
Welcome the winter season with a hands-on wreath-making workshop led by Marya Merriam of Wood Frog Flowers. Participants will learn to create a beautiful 16-inch balsam wreath using fragrant, locally sourced balsam and an assortment of natural materials, including birch bark, red dogwood branches, milkweed pods, cedar, and pinecones.
Whether you’re an experienced crafter or trying wreath-making for the first time, this workshop offers an opportunity to explore natural materials and create a unique seasonal decoration to enjoy at home or give as a thoughtful holiday gift. Participants will leave with a handmade wreath that celebrates the beauty and fragrance of the winter landscape.
About the Instructor
Marya Merriam is the founder of Wood Frog Flowers, a flower farm based on the organic vegetable farm in Vermont where she grew up. With a lifelong connection to farming, Marya began growing and drying flowers while working full-time on a dairy farm. Since 2020, Wood Frog Flowers has grown from a weekend hobby into a full-season venture offering dried flower arrangements, holiday balsam wreaths, and hands-on workshops. Marya’s work celebrates the creativity of seasonal flowers and locally foraged materials while reflecting her commitment to sustainable farming and community.
