Addicted to pesto? Join our Pesto Making Class and Dinner and you’ll discover the secrets of making the most delicious basil pesto from scratch, using traditional techniques. The class instructor Rosann Schwartz, grew up in a traditional Sicilian-American family. She spent her summers gathering fresh herbs and vegetables to make a wide variety of savory and sweet pesto sauces. She was fortunate to be able to learn from her “Nona” and “Zias” in Sicily how to grow and harvest local herbs, fruits, and nuts on the family pistachio/almond farm in southern Sicily.

Although most people in the US are only familiar with traditional Basil Pesto, Rosann will teach you how to craft delicious sauces from whatever herbs and nuts are on hand: basil, fennel fronds, parsley, tarragon, arugula, dandelion greens paired with pistachios, almonds, oranges, or lemons to make light fresh pasta sauces and condiments.

Once you are done in the kitchen with your culinary creativity, you will have a chance to savor the pesto sauces as you share a Pesto Pasta Dinner in the historic Shaker Dining Room of the Great Stone Dwelling.
