Join Tracy Gillespie in a 2-hour workshop to design and create a beautiful floral print block that can be reused in future projects. In this class you will learn basic block printing design, carving, and printing techniques in a relaxed and supportive environment. We’ll sketch, carve, and print, and there will be the option to add color with watercolors and colored inks. You will come away with a completed print suitable for framing, embellishing and/or sending as a card. This class is perfect for both beginners and seasoned craftspeople. The workshop is limited to 10 participants and advanced registration is required.
Who is Tracy Gillespie?
I am a Vermont printmaker who makes prints that help people see the beauty in everyday life. With my prints I use paper, ink, and watercolor paints to create pictures of the natural world that show the immense beauty of ordinary things.
I am influenced by the iconic Vermont printmaker Mary Azarian, for adding color to bold line to immortalize the many stories of rural Vermont, by the German printmaker Kaethe Kollwitz, for her emotional intensity and political activism, and by the Russian Jewish painter Marc Chagall for his dream-like magical realism and color.
I love teaching because I believe that art is for everybody and we all have a story to tell.
