Celebrate the longest day of the year with an enchanting evening hike and sunset experience at Enfield Shaker Museum. Join us on June 21st for our annual Summer Solstice Sunset Hike, a unique event that combines natural beauty, history, and delightful refreshments.

Our journey begins at 6:30pm with a guided hike to the historic Feast Ground. This scenic hike will take you through the lush Shaker Forest and rolling fields, offering stunning views of Mascoma Lake. Along the way, learn about the Shaker community’s rich history and their deep connection to the land.

Upon reaching the Feast Ground, we will gather to witness the spectacular summer solstice sunset. Enjoy a selection of fine wines and artisanal cheeses while mingling with fellow hikers and nature enthusiasts. This relaxing reception provides a perfect opportunity to unwind and savor the evening.

The highlight of the nevening will be a special talk by Shaker scholar Mary Ann Haagen. Mary Ann will share fascinating insights into the Shaker way of life, and the historical significance of the Feast Ground and its use as an outdoor worship space in the mid 19th century.

Advance registration is required. Tickets are limited to ensure an intimate and enjoyable experience for all participants. Please wear appropriate footwear and bring water.

Don’t miss this opportunity to experience the magic of the summer solstice at Enfield Shaker Museum. We look forward to sharing this special evening with you!

This moderately strenuous hike should take about 35 minutes each way and you’ll need to feel comfortable walking on uneven terrain in low light conditions. Please wear comfortable walking/hiking shoes and bring a flashlight for some extra illumination on the way back down.

Limited to 20 participants. Advanced registration required.

Museum Members – $30/person

Non-Members – $40/person

All proceeds from this workshop go to support the educational mission of Enfield Shaker Museum.
