Joining the Community Garden

The Enfield Shaker Museum Community Garden offers local residents the opportunity to grow their own food while participating in an organically managed gardening community. Supervised by dedicated Museum volunteers, the garden provides a welcoming space for gardeners of all experience levels.

The Community Garden season runs from April through October. Garden plots are rented annually and are available in three sizes. Each year, at least two plots are dedicated to our Giving Garden, which grows fresh produce for local food pantries.

Annual Plot Fees

20′ x 20′ – $45.00*

20′ x 10′ – $40.00*

10′ x 10′ – $35.00*

New Gardener Deposit

New gardeners pay a one-time deposit equal to their annual plot fee. This deposit reserves your plot for future seasons as long as you continue gardening with us.

Plots are limited and are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. If all plots are currently reserved, interested gardeners are encouraged to join our waiting list.

Visiting the Community Garden

The Community Garden is a shared space where gardeners, volunteers, and Museum visitors come together to enjoy growing food and connecting with nature. Visitors are welcome to stroll through the garden, but we ask that everyone help us care for this special place.

Guidelines

  • Please stay on paths whenever possible.
  • Help us respect gardeners’ hard work by not picking vegetables, flowers, or herbs from individual plots.
  • Children are welcome but should be supervised at all times.
  • Dogs are not allowed within the fenced garden area
  • Please leave the garden as you found it and dispose of any trash properly.
  •  Be courteous to gardeners who may be working in their plots.
