Enfield Museum To Buy La Salette Shrine.

The Missionaries of La Salette have agreed to sell its properties located on NH Route 4A in Enfield, NH to Enfield Shaker Museum, Acting Director Carolyn A. Smith announced today. Included on three lots are the well-known La Salette Shrine, two chapels, and five former Shaker buildings. Until 1923, the site was known to the Enfield Shakers as the North Family, where those wishing to join the Shakers lived for a trial period of one year. La Salette purchased the entire Shaker village in 1927; the first Mass was held here on December 24, 1927. The last Mass will take place on September 19, 2023 and the Shrine will change ownership shortly thereafter. More information coming soon.
