CALL FOR PAPERS: Spring Forum on the Shakers

Call for Papers: Spring Forum on the Shakers.

The Enfield Shaker Museum’s Annual Spring Forum on the Shakers will be held April 19-21, 2023. The Museum is seeking proposals for papers and presentations for the weekend. Preference will be given to proposals based on primary sources such as, but not limited to, journals, ledger books, oral histories, newspapers, artifacts, correspondence and maps. Preference will be given to proposals presenting new research. Each lecture must be no more than 45 minutes with an additional 15 minutes for questions and answers. A projector, laptop, and a screen will be available for Power Point presentations. We will once again award a $500 cash prize to the presenter demonstrating the highest standard in new, outstanding scholarship. Presenters receive free lodging and a special rate on meals.
Student Scholarships are available. Please encourage your students to attend the Forum.

The Forum includes lectures, tours, receptions, and meals. The audience will consist of 75-100 people, with a general interest in Shaker studies. The weekend schedule will include presentations on Friday afternoon and evening, all day Saturday, and Sunday morning. Following Sunday morning’s presentations there will be a singing meeting, during which we will remember and honor our Shaker Studies colleague, Kerry Hackett, who died December 31, 2024 in Ontario, Canada.

To Submit a Proposal: Please send an abstract of 500 words or fewer and a CV by February 15th to Enfield Shaker Museum, 447 Route 4A, Enfield, NH 03748, or e-mail education@shakermuseum.org.
