La Salette Shrine in Enfield to Close.

The Missionaries of La Salette will be leaving Enfield on September 30, 2023, the Very Rev. William V. Kaliyadan, Provincial Superior, announced recently. The shrine and five historic Shaker buildings are located on about 28 acres of land that the La Salettes purchased from the Shakers in 1927. The Shakers used the site, known as the North Family, to host noviates–individuals trying the Shaker way of life. Enfield Shaker Museum has been engaged in informal talks with the La Salettes since last fall and Carolyn Smith, acting director, is hopeful that the museum will be able to expand to include the entire property. The Museum will keep members and supporters up-to-date about the progress of the talks in this space and on Facebook.
