Gary Hamel is a beloved New Hampshire artist known for his paintings and intricate assemblages made from found objects. He recently suffered a devastating house fire. The Enfield Shaker Museum will be hosting an evening to support him. Come meet Gary and learn about where he finds his inspirations and a bit about his life as an artist. He will have paintings for viewing and purchase. Light beverages and light refreshments will be available.

Writing The Other
In this two-hour workshop you will explore how to write a portrait of a person. We will read and analyze some examples from literature. Then, with empathy and compassion, you too will use words to create characters.
No prior writing experience is required; just an open mind and the courage to try.

About the teacher:
Judith Hertog is a writer, teacher, and storyteller. She grew up in Amsterdam but, after some wandering around the world, ended up living in Vermont. She teaches writing at Dartmouth College and organizes storytelling in the Upper Valley.
